Residents are encouraged to review the proposed developments and submit their feedback in writing to the Chief Executive Officer. Road Closures and Traffic Advisories

Major infrastructure works and sewer main installations continue across the city, necessitating several road closures and traffic diversions active this Thursday. Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time.

  • Queens Domain: The McVilly Drive underpass and the Tasman Highway Interchange (between Tasman Highway, Davies Avenue, and the Regatta Grounds) remain closed to all vehicular traffic until 31 March 2026. This closure is required for the installation of a new rising sewer main.
  • CBD Night Works: Motorists should anticipate significant delays at the intersections of Liverpool Street and Murray Street, as well as Collins Street and Murray Street. Essential roadworks are being conducted between 6 pm and 6 am to minimize daytime disruption.
  • New Town: Queens Walk, between Gas Road and Selfs Point Road, is subject to daytime closures from 7 am to 5 pm for ongoing pavement maintenance. These works are scheduled for completion by 27 March.

Public Service Announcement: Industrial Action

Residents and commuters are advised that industrial action by public sector workers, teachers, and support staff is scheduled for Thursday, 26 March 2026, specifically targeting Southern Tasmania. This action is expected to cause disruptions to government administrative services, local schools, and some public transport routes. Hobart residents are urged to confirm school arrangements and plan alternative transportation where necessary. Monitor local media for real-time updates on transport delays.

Health and Community Wellbeing

The Tasmanian Department of Health continues to provide guidance on community health risks and service changes for Hobart residents:

  • Communicable Disease Awareness: Following a confirmed case of meningococcal disease in the state, health officials remind the community to be alert for symptoms, including sudden fever, stiff neck, and a non-blanching rash. Early detection is vital for successful treatment.
  • Service Tasmania Program Update: Community members are reminded that the distribution of free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) at Service Tasmania centres will conclude on 30 April 2026. Residents are encouraged to access these resources while supplies last.
