City Notices Roundup for Tuesday, 10 February 2026

Following the regional public holiday, the City of Hobart is advising residents of several active public service announcements, road maintenance schedules, and health advisories effective today. These notices are issued to ensure public safety and the efficient delivery of municipal services.

Roadwork and Traffic Alerts

Commuters are advised to plan for delays or seek alternative routes due to the following ongoing infrastructure projects and essential maintenance works:

  • North Hobart Night Works: Essential road maintenance continues on Elizabeth Street between Elphinstone Road and Rupert Avenue. Works are scheduled weeknights from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Motorists should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits during these hours.
  • Queens Walk Closure: Road works are active on Queens Walk in New Town, specifically between Gas Road and Selfs Point Road. Construction crews will be on-site from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Access for local residents and emergency services will be maintained.
  • Edward Street Maintenance: Infrastructure upgrades are underway on Edward Street in Glebe, between Brooker Avenue and Short Street. These works are conducted weekdays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and are expected to continue through mid-March.
  • Sandy Bay Rivulet Bridge: The bridge structure adjacent to 4 Quayle Street remains temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic following a safety assessment. Pedestrians are advised to follow posted signage while the City evaluates long-term repair options.

Public Health and Safety Advisories

The Department of Health has issued the following alerts for the Tasmanian community:

  • Infant Formula Recall: A state-wide recall remains in effect for Sanulac Nutritionals Australia Pty Ltd products. Specifically, Alula Gold Reflux (900g) and Alula Colic & Constipation (850g) formulas should not be consumed due to potential health risks. Consumers are urged to return these products to their place of purchase for a full refund.
  • Tobacco Legislation Consultation: Public feedback is currently being sought for the Public Health Amendment (Prohibited Tobacco and Other Products) Bill 2026. This legislation aims to address the illicit trade of nicotine pouches and e-cigarettes. Submissions from the public, health advocates, and businesses are open until 6 March 2026.

City Services and Community Planning

The City of Hobart is moving forward with several initiatives aimed at improving accessibility and community engagement:

  • Aquatic Centre Parking: The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre has begun transitioning to a new license plate recognition (LPR) system. The new structure provides up to three hours of free parking for members and two hours for casual users. Stays exceeding five hours without validation will incur a $60 daily fee to ensure parking availability for facility users.
  • Planning and Development: A range of development applications are currently on public display. Residents are invited to review these proposals and submit comments through the official planning portal until 20 February 2026.
  • Community Satisfaction Survey: The 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey is now active. The City encourages all residents to participate to help inform future service delivery and strategic priorities.
